31 March 2010 - 10:50Internet Terrorism for Kids

Want to blow some steam off? Better yet, want to unleash it on your Facebook friends? Why not just commit a minor act of internet terrorism, and bomb their page.

Dreamworks has used an innovative advertising strategy in partnership with Facebook to promote their newest movie, How to Train Your Dragon. This is no lame “send your friend a cocktail” option you are used to on Facebook, Flame It allows you to wreck havoc on anybody’s profile page or even a website by throwing balls of fire anywhere you please, dragon style.

After the wreckage is cleared, a wall posting emerges from the smoke, reminding you and all your friends to check out the movie. So…BOMBS AWAY!

30 March 2010 - 8:517 Unusual Workplaces

We frequently visit Francesco Mugnai’s blog for visual inspiration. It’s a great source for awesome graphic design work and web design trends, but their recent blog has nothing to do with either.

Titled, ‘25 Pics of Places You Probably Don’t Work @!, the blog checks out 25 places that, well, you probably don’t work at.

Here is a small glimpse.

26 March 2010 - 17:52A Launch CreativeFeed is Looking Forward to…

We were just as stunned as the rest of the advertising community to hear about Ty Montague and Rosemarie Ryan’s departure from JWT to start their own entrepreneurial endeavor.

But we weren’t surprised.

In the day and age when larger agencies create multiple departments for online, offline, production for each and separate creative teams assigned to all of it, you can understand the desire to work in a more streamlined environment. (We 17 upstarts at CreativeFeed understand that desire too.)

Social media moves faster than traditional media ever did. This means campaigns are no longer “launched.” It means brands must be aware that conversations are happening 24/7 online, offline whether they are spending $0 or $250M. And the spend isn’t what’s important, it’s what they’re saying and how they’re saying it.

The track record Ty and Rose built at JWT speaks for itself. Lots of major wins (and some losses) but it the work always seemed to be made to reflect the changes happening in branding over the past half-decade.

How Ty and Rose continue to deal with the realities of the new advertising/branding/product landscape remains to be seen. But it’s our guess that there will be a lot less people in the office, but still some pretty interesting work.

23 March 2010 - 15:02I’M HERE

imheremovie.com

Here at CF, we appreciate when brands team up with great directors or artists to create something truly amazing. This is clearly one of those moments. I’m Here is a great short written and directed by Spike Jonze and supported by Absolute Vodka.

This has been executed so well on so many different levels, it’s hard to actually know where to begin. The sites interactivity really helps get the viewer in the mood to see this film – allowing them to even invite friends via facebook to this 30min love story. Taking on a whole new level of film screening that hopefully many other directors and artists will begin taking advantage of.

So get your tickets before they run out. There is a screening every 2 hours and only a few hundred people can view at a time. This way bandwidth is not slow and it gives the screening more of a premium feel.

So make some pop corn, invite some friends, turn up the sound, and Enjoy!!

22 March 2010 - 15:13OK Go. Some Assembly Required.

With an undisclosed budget provided by State Farm Insurance and a gang of very talented engineers, OK Go makes viral music video success once again!

You may remember their old video, “Here it Goes Again”, which has accumulated 50,413,342 views to this day.

For almost 4 minutes, OK Go dances with an enormous and complex Rube Goldberg machine in one long, unedited shot. The project took 60 takes to execute and 4 months of planning and building, however, their efforts pay off, with 3 million hits within the first 3 days of its debut.

Interesting video with huge viral success, but first week album sales were lackluster. CreativeFeed wants to know if any fans of the video and song bought their album? If not, why?

22 March 2010 - 12:49Where has the sun gone?

Very strange day in the office…

Despite it being one of the first days of Spring, the weather outside is cold, wet and dismal.

What happened to our perfect weather like last Friday?

Also, Marcus comes back into the office with one functioning leg!

Nonetheless, spirits are high in the office.
